Susan A. Fine was an unselfish, big hearted, kind, altruistic, giddy, joyful, emotional, lover of life who lost her battle with Leukemia (CLL) and Lymphoma and passed away when she was only 62 years old. However, her legacy of helping those in need both financially and emotionally is continuing today through an organization founded by husband in her memory, “Friends of Susan”.
Susan held a Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Southern California and worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her day was full of helping people professionally and her evenings were likewise occupied with her volunteer work for woman’s rights organizations, medical research foundations, Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She is missed by all who were touched by her caring, sensitivity, style, humor and ability to help others become more than they thought they could be. In her own words…”I just help people learn how to shoot for the moon and actually get there as I have”.
Susan believed that nobody is free from the responsibility to help ease the suffering of all Cancer Patients. She knew that through scientific research that there are controls and cures for this life destroying disease that has touched too many families. She never lost hope that new drugs and treatments were going to be found and developed.
As one of her final wishes she asked that her family find “new” friends that would join together with them to fund world class scientists working each day to find controls and cures for all types of Cancers. Because even one more life lost to Cancer is too much to ask anyone to suffer.
